The 40-acre Big Rusty Wildfire, burning near Bancroft Lane and Cove Court in Hainesport, was 75% contained of the fire, as of Tuesday evening, Nov. 19, the NJ Forest Fire Service said.

Officials confirmed that no structures are currently threatened, and no evacuations have been ordered. Earlier road closures have been lifted, with Bancroft Lane, Cove Court, and Wharton Place now reopened.

Fire engines and ground crews remain on the scene as efforts continue to fully contain the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Hainesport fire is one of two wildfires reported earlier this week, alongside the Country Club wildfire in Lakewood.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service issued a Special Weather Statement earlier this week, warning of conditions conducive to wildfire spread due to gusty winds and low humidity. Residents are urged to remain cautious, as Stage 3 Fire Restrictions remain in effect statewide.

Another update on the Big Rusty wildfire is expected at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
